Sand Painting

Sand painting is an art form where colourful sand is used to create pictures or designs. Instead of using paint, artists sprinkle different colours of sand onto a surface to make their artwork. The sand can be arranged in detailed patterns or used to fill in larger areas of colour. Sand paintings can be permanent if glued down, or temporary designs made just for fun.

How?

Start with a flat surface, often a piece of cardboard or wood with a sticky surface or covered in glue. Draw your design lightly in pencil. Then, carefully sprinkle coloured sand onto the sticky areas. You can use small spoons, funnels, or even just your fingers to control where the sand goes. Tap off extra sand and add more colours to complete your design. If it’s meant to be permanent, seal it with a spray adhesive.
