String a Name is a craft activity where people use colourful string or thin rope to create words, usually their names. The string is wrapped around nails or pins that have been arranged in the shape of letters on a board. When it’s done, you have a unique, handmade piece of art showing your name or a special word in bright colours and interesting patterns.
How?
Start with a wooden board and hammer small nails in the shape of the letters you want. Choose your colours of string. Tie the string to the first nail, then start wrapping it around the nails, going back and forth to fill in the letters. You can create patterns by changing directions or using different colours. When you’re done, tie off the end and trim any extra string.
